Reldin's Ghost Empty
PostSubject: Reldin's Ghost   Reldin's Ghost I_icon_minitimeSat Apr 23, 2011 3:25 pm

Anyone else have a bugger of a time with this guy? Here's a hint... run away!! And I don't just mean run around in a circle from him to keep away from his aura while his skeletons mob you. Run back to where you first enter the Ritual Room! Nothing stops you from doing this, and it makes a nice hallway for your archers to fire down while he meanders slowly after you. Also, when he starts summoning his baddies up there, they're much MUCH easier to control, as while you're running from one end to the other via the section with steps, they're having to slip around to follow you, just as the Ghost is. Makes it harder for them to kill you while you have a few extra seconds to blast them and Reldin.

So hard to get this point across to players when my headset isn't working....

LEGENDARY-mode

For Multiplayer there is no doubt that running back to the start makes things easier for your AoE attackers.

for those who do not wish to run back, simply follow the host (blue). Have the party leader run in a large circle around the Ghost and just follow. This causes the screen to move in that direction allow easier character movement and management. Certain skills work better this way too. ex: (Charge, Jump attack, Stone escape) Note that these skills will do damage but the movement part of them will not work due to bad screen postioning for multiplayer.

Solo Guides:

Skills:
Warrior- Spam Crippling strike and be ready to spam those potions. He will be down quickly. If the mobs give you too much trouble toss in a Crushing blow or whirlwind. Note that whirlwind is not cost effective, so be careful if this is your poison of choice.

Mage- Either Stone Escape or Meteor. Or both if you wish. Those deal the most damage and AoE as well.

Rogue- Lighting attack bows will work but the game's targeting will cause you to attack the skeleton mobs and not Reldin. Melee rogues with Lightning attack will tear the ghost up. Use potions though, you will be spamming that. Just remember that there are mobs that will make it harder for you, so have roundhouse or Exploding trap ready.

How to use:
Running back into the main hall where you start will help, in fact it will funnel the enemies and your AoE attacks will be more effective. There are some things you must know before doing that though.

-Warrior: Running into the back will not help much since you are mostly a melee damage dealer. It will help with your AoE's but when it comes down to the Ghost, you need to spam your Crippling Strike

-Mage: Running works its magic on this one. Just make sure you deal with the mobs, or else you will end up being cornered if you aren't too careful. Kiting will be your friend.

-Rogue: Melee spam, since your ranged bow targets the mobs first. Nothing much to it really.

You guys pretty much covered it in awesome detail already. I'll add the strategy I posted over at GameFAQs here, too.

Reldin The Mad Priest Boss Strategy (Act 5)

I'm playing my third character now (as a Mage) and being pure spellpower means I'm an egg amongst sledgehammers, for the most part. I use any means necessary when fighting a Boss in this game, whether it be hiding behind pillars, walls and tables or kiting the bad guy into a position where he's too stupid to move out of in order for me to unleash my fury.

My solo strategy here was to eliminate as many adds as possible while still having enough room to move around freely. It's difficult to kite bosses as a Mage until you can find something to work with (or around, in this case).

--FLESH GOLEM
The easiest way to deal with this fight is to pull the Flesh Golem back to the entrance of the Ritual Room (Northwest) and kite him in & out and around the pit.
--RELDIN (first form)
Reldin's first form will spawn back in the middle of the room where the Flesh Golem did. Go pull Reldin back to the pit like you did Flesh Golem.
--RELDIN (Ghost form)
Reldin's second form will spawn where his first form left off, so just rinse and repeat until mission accomplished.
There will still be a lot of adds during both Reldin fights as he summons them on the spot, but not nearly as many as in the huge open space where the fight begins and they are much easier to deal with near the entrance of the area since you have more control over the fight reducing blindside attacks by massive amounts of adds.

I'm sure it would take a bit of coordination with an online group to execute this strategy, because you can easily cut off other players in the pit by running up the stairs and around the railing. It might be something to consider, though.

On a side note, there is a Chest and a Book behind the portal that takes you to Howling Woods after the fight is over. Just select "NO" when it prompts you to "Enter Howling Woods?" and then make your way behind the portal.
